Final bikepacking day in extreme heat; reached Biarritz, met Daniel, finished France route after 2,100 km, now heading home by train.

A challenging 145 km with few highlights along the way, ending with forest trails, a quiet campsite, and a shared Dinner.

Dream day on the bike: ferry crossing, great company, 120 km through the Médoc pine forest, endless beaches, and pure cycling bliss.

I made it to Marans and treated myself to an Airbnb. The highlights were the stunning Marais d'Olonne wetlands and the beautiful town of Les Sables d'Olonne.

The Atlantic at last! After countless kilometers on the EuroVelo 6, I was rewarded with ocean views, a refreshing sea breeze, and a stunning campsite by the cliffs.

A hot and dusty 128 km ride along and beyond the Loire, featuring picturesque villages, a unique hand-pulled ferry crossing, and the striking landscapes of the former slate-mining area around Trélazé. The day ended at the campsite in Oudon after temperatures soared to 38°C.

The 2026 bikepacking tour finally began with a smooth TGV ride from Strasbourg to Tours. Following the Loire through charming villages and cave dwellings, I finished a hot first stage in Saumur.

Last day of the 2025 tour — Blois cathedral, Chaumont-sur-Loire castle, and a headwind finish in Tours.

Cooler temperatures and highlights aplenty — Orléans cathedral, a castle in Meung-sur-Loire, and a magical evening at the Loire beach.

Following the Loire with a highlight at the spectacular canal bridge at Briare and the first Loire château at Sully-sur-Loire.

Cycling through 40°C heat along canals and rivers — a McDonald's in Decize as a lifeline, and recovery in the beautiful La Charité-sur-Loire.

36°C heat along Canal du Centre — fighting headwind to Chagny, then flying with tailwind to Digoin.

A full day along the Doubs and Saône, through Besançon's river tunnel and the pretty town of Dole.

Starting the France section — from Müllheim via the Rhine-Rhone Canal to Fourbanne.
